From the garden
A Garden for Slow Mornings
A sloping side yard becomes a sheltered place for coffee, conversation and year-round planting.
THE GARDEN NOTEBOOK
Garden design
The brief
The owners wanted a garden they could enjoy before work, with fewer awkward corners and a comfortable route from the kitchen.
West Lake Hills, Texas
The decisions
We introduced a small gravel terrace, broad stepping stones and layered planting that separates the seating area from the street without closing it in.
The details
A simple bench, aromatic planting near the path and a clear seasonal care plan make the garden useful beyond the first flush of growth.
